I believe our worlds revolve around the quality of our relationships, and our most basic needs are to be loved, known, and connected to others. This is why it’s so difficult when our relationships are not functioning in the way we had hoped. My clients struggle with feeling alone and isolated in their relationships, harboring unexpressed resentments, because they do not understand their negative patterns and continue to repeat fights without resolving the underlying conflicts. As difficult as these times can be, they also present an opportunity for change, a chance to develop a deeper understanding and connection.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is an empirically validated model that has been proven to help couples who have gotten stuck in cycles of conflict. I work collaboratively and actively with couples, families, and individuals facing a range of circumstances, such as depression, anxiety, stress, mood disorders, grief and loss, past traumas, and ruptured relationships. I use an integrative therapeutic approach grounded in attachment theory and family systems theory. The EFT model and its emphasis on creating strong attachments is a natural fit for my practice.
I currently work in an oupatient mental health agency in Elizabeth, NJ with clients from a variety of cultural, ethnic, and economic backgrounds. I value learning and regularly attend professional conferences and trainings to keep abreast of the latest developments in the mental health field, thus continually enhancing both my knowledge and skills.
