Hold Me Tight: A Couple's Workshop
Hold Me Tight® NJ Couples Workshop is a 12-hour weekend workshop based on the research and practices of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). It is an educational workshop designed to help you build your relationship, overcome your difficulties, strengthen your connection and feel secure, valued and loved.
The Hold Me Tight program for couples was designed by Dr. Sue Johnson, award-winning founder of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and author of the book Hold Me Tight: Seven Conversations for a Lifetime of Love, and the more recently released, Love Sense.
In this workshop, you will:
- Address stuck patterns and negative cycles
- Learn more about your partner's inner world
- Overcome loneliness
- Repair and forgive past hurts
- Deepen your emotional and physical connection
- Have the relationship you've always wanted
What we do at the workshop
During the Hold Me Tight NJ Workshop you will watch video taped sessions of other couples working on specific relationship issues and communication patterns. If you are like most other couples, you will recognize these patterns in your own relationship, as well as the emotions triggered by those patterns. You will be guided by your facilitators to talk about ways to work on those aspects of your relationship, and be given specific tools to help you get past these common obstacles. You will be provided with time to have private conversations with each other about your relationship, and your facilitators will be available to help you move through those conversations, helping you get past the challenging moments that keep you stuck.
You will view several short video taped conversations about love and emotional attachment by Dr. Sue Johnson, which will help you better understand the world of emotions and the conflicts that arise when partners begin to get insecure or defensive. You'll be given exercises to practice learning about each other's emotions and underlying needs, and you will develop greater awareness of how to really listen with an open heart and understand each other in a deeper, more meaningful way. Again, the exercises are private. While there will be opportunities to share with other couples in the workshop, the decision to do so is yours alone. We will always maintain your privacy.
