I never cease to be humbled by the power and resilience that couples and families have to heal. Beneath the anger, frustration and hurt – there is the unique bond that connects you. Healing and strengthening this bond allows people to resolve bitter conflict and create the closeness and intimacy that often gets lost when people get “stuck” in negative communication, long term conflict or stress, lack of physical intimacy, even infidelity or trauma. Good therapy begins by helping my clients feel accepted, supported and heard.
EFT is backed by over 25 years of research with unprecedented success rates. For couples, 90% who complete EFT therapy report significant improvement and 70-75% experience complete relationship recovery. EFT is a short term model of therapy. Many of the couples and families I work with find that even after the first few sessions – they are communicating more and arguing less, and connecting to each other’s needs and feelings. With EFT couples and families experience continued relationship growth even after ending therapy!
I offer special programs in EFT Couple and Family Therapy for:
· Depression and Anxiety
· Pre-Marital Counseling
· Step Parenting and Blended Families
· Bereavement and Loss
I am a Certified Emotionally Focused Couple Therapist and Certified EFT Clinical Supervisor (teacher of other therapists). I am also a founding member and serve on the Board of Directors for the New York Center for EFT – NYCEFT serving NY, NJ and CT. As a supervisor, I provide professional supervision and consultation for therapists learning the EFT model both in person and throughout the country via distance supervision. I collaborated with ICEEFT certified trainers, Scott Wooley, George Faller and Lisa Palmer, in creating the model of EFT supervision now recognized by ICEEFT, and co-authored the chapter, "Training the Emotionally Focused Therapist" in the book Couple, Marriage and Family Therapy Supervision, Ed. Karin B. Jordan, PhD.
